Carpe Diem! (I've always wanted to say that.)

Another 2 weeks have flown by, and I continue to be amazed at how quickly everything changes.  My short sleeve weather has blown away, and do you know, they say it's supposed to snow tomorrow!? Don't get me wrong--I love this time of year.  I love the beautiful colors and the excitement of all the upcoming holidays.  But this year I am full of mixed emotions.  Because, as quickly as the wind turned chilly, I am once again being slapped in the face with the reality that my baby boy is growing up! You'll have to pardon my somewhat melancholy mood--I'm not even sure how to explain it.  As excited as I am about all the new experiences to come, and as much as I am eagerly anticipating each of Jake's milestones, I'm also wanting things to just slow the heck down!!! Ok, to be fair, it's not really the weather that made me feel ALL those things.  The real cause made itself known about a week ago--Sunday night to be exact.  After 2 months of drooling, and 3 days and nights of extreme suffering, Jake's bottom 2 teeth popped through!!! Although this has brought Jake much relief, I found myself unexpectedly distraught.  The 2 weeks post pregnancy were very hormonal ones, but since then, I would like to think I have kept my emotions in check--until now.  I will probably call myself an idiot for this a few months from now, but I've been feeling so weird about these 2 stupid teeth!!! I just feel like once his smile changes, Jake won't be my little baby anymore.  He will look so different, and I don't know if I'm ready for him to change just yet! I guess what I'm trying to say is, I know that this is the whole point of raising babies--you have to actually raise them.  but I never realized how much each milestone would tug at my heartstrings.  Those of you who are Latter Day Saints know that last weekend was General Conference.  During one of his talks, President Monson spoke about how we need to embrace each day, not just living for tomorrow...That we should enjoy life and spend time with our families, and essentially make each day memorable.  This is not at all verbatim, but I loved the point he was making.  It made me realize all over again how precious every single day is.  Yes, I am very excited about all the things to come for my family, but I want to live each day on purpose, and savor all the happy memories.  I know I probably sound so cliche, but that's just how I feel.  I have been procrastinating doing family pictures for a long time, and this past week inspired me to seize the day.  Thanks to the incredible talent of my kid sister, and the cooperation of my boys, we pulled it off.  Here are just a few.  I'm saving the best one for my Christmas card, but I also loved these and thought they were worth sharing.

I LOVE these pictures! I could look at them over and over again. He is growing up so fast! (Not to rub it in). But it's so exciting too! Who knows what new tricks he'll know the next time I'll see him. I loved President Monson's talk too. I'm glad it inspired you. It helped me realize that I need to enjoy Arizona for what it is worth and not keep wishing my time here away. Good thing the weather is getting nice so that's helping me be more positive too. Love you guys!

cute pictures, kristie! your little family is darling. soo i don't think there has been a day that has gone by with this pregnancy that i don't at least get a little bit teary-eyed thinking about how fast my family is going to grow up. and i don't even have one yet (well, sort of...). heck, last week i started bawling. jonathan asked what was wrong, and it was because i was sad for my mom now that she only has one kid at home.

we're all nuts.

ps - i've been doing better this week, so i think i'll try and make it down to see you sometime soon.

These pictures are darling. Syd's got major talent. I hate to rub it in, too, but he is growing up. He is growing up adorable, though. You guys made one really cute baby. If it makes you feel any better, i'm having the same feelings. I don't know why time is going by so fast, but I find myself crying often, wishing things would slow down. I'm enjoying every second of Peyton, but somehow every time I blink, she is bigger. Wow, I sound looney. And ditto to Jess- I think that talk hit home for a lot of us. Wait to go on the pictures.

I think a lot of us are in the same boat. I frequently wake up in the middle of the night worried about how fast time has gone by. When I look at your pictures I always think, oh it will be so fun to have Kate here, and then I think, "Oh my gosh, it's not going to be the two of us anymore! We have to do some much before she gets here...so on and so forth." It is nice to think that we are all a little crazy and hormonal.

Syd did a fabuolous job on your photos. Props to her. I can't wait to see the Christmas card. I better be included on your mailing list...if not you better at least post the best picture.

P.S. I love my hair and can't believe how well you cut it. You are the bomb.com. We'll have to hang out soon!

I too loved that talk- it was exactly what I needed to hear. And your little family is gorgeous! You look so good- you have that new(ish) mom glow for sure. I definitely want some pictures done of us, except for the fact that I feel like death warmed over most of the time. Maybe next time Sydney is back on this coast we'll take a little trip...
